Tiki Wheel of Fortune

Here it is, my submission for the TIKOT! Visions from the Tiki Tarot art show at the Freaky Boutiki gallery in Mission Beach, CA.

Referring to The Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien the Wheel of Fortune is a card of "universal abundance, prosperity and expansion."

I replaced the Sphinx (objectivity), the Monkey (flexibility) and the Crocodile (creative power) with the Pueo (owl), Tako (octopus) and Mano (the shark.) These are the qualities the person in question will need to achieve prosperity.

The flying pig has been caught, cooked and ready on the table of leaves as a symbol of abundance. Lady fate stands poised for the spinning of the wheel, but even one step removed from outcome herself as her little puppet deity has his hand on the lever.

It seems it's time to hire a professional photographer as both my scanner and camera are cruddy at capturing vibrant colors.

Buer the Demon

My interpretation of Buer, a demon documented around the 17th century in a grimoire called Book 1 of the Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Solomon.) During the Age of Enlightenment it seems many demons were in the business of education. Buer, here, was into philosophy, logic and herbs. He sure looks it. It's also a submission for a mysterious card game.
